Learning about Leather: How to Care for your Leather Furniture

How to care for leather furniture

Leather is often viewed as an investment, as it lasts far longer than fabric. This material ages well and can in fact improve over time, but in order for this to happen the correct caring procedures must be carried out. Lucky for you, leather furniture is relatively easy to look after! However, to ensure your Yarwood Leather is looking its finest, follow the simple steps below to keep your leather looking beautiful.

Watch out for…
  • Don’t sit on the arm of your sofa, as this may disfigure the shape.
  • Keep leather furniture away from fires, radiators and direct sunlight as this can cause them to fade in colour and appear dry.
  • Avoid sharp objects near the furniture, as this may scratch the surface and cause snags. If a snag ever appears, do not pull as this will only escalate the problem.
  • Pets may be an issue when it comes to leather furniture, as they could potentially leave claw marks. If you still want your furry companion to join you on the sofa, perhaps use a throw or a blanket.
  • When moving furniture, take extra care as it could leave marks on your upholstery and potentially on the walls where the leather has come into contact with them.
  • Don’t use regular household cleaning products on leather. Please refer to your chosen Yarwood Leather product cleaning information.

Regular Care and Maintenance

Refer to your chosen Yarwood Leather product cleaning information for specific range care. The following can be used as a general maintenance guide:

  • Vacuuming is a suitable method to remove any unwanted dust from any creases or crevices, make sure to use the soft bristle attachment to prevent scratching or damaging the surface.
  • If a spill should occur, they should be dealt with as soon as possible in order to prevent any lasting marks. When removing spillage, use a dry soft cloth, placing on the affected area to draw out the liquid.
  • In order to keep your leather furniture’s shape, regular plumping of the cushions is useful.
