The challenge with developing landmark location such as The Angel Hotel was to balance retaining the architecture, history and heritage of the building whilst meeting the demands of today’s customers.  The hotel is famously associated with Charles Dickens, who stayed in the hotel three times and wrote about the hotel in his book The Pickwick Papers.

Harrison were tasked with modernising the restaurant, bar and lounge areas. Traditional materials were included to create a homely feel to the spaces, in keeping with the history and Georgian architecture to create an ethos underpinned by a design essence of ‘fables and tales’.  Blue is a prominent colour throughout the space, from the walls which have subtle literary references, through to the bespoke seating.  Yarwood Leather’s Mustang in Reef was one of the finishes chosen for the bespoke seating throughout all of the spaces.

The project was recently shortlisted for an International Interior Design Award, find out more about the bespoke details used in The Angel Hotel on the Harrison website case study.
