Tear Strength
Method: BS EN 3377-1: 2002 • Unit of Measure: N M2
Tear strength does exactly what it says on the tin. It measures the force needed for the leather to tear in Newtons. This is a useful test to gauge if the leather is strong enough to withstand the pulls and stretches in use. The European standard for upholstery leather includes a good benchmark figure within its standard (BSEN 1336:2003)
