Fastness to Rubbing

Method: BS EN 11640: 1998 • Unit of Measure: Grey Scale (GS)

Fastness to rubbing measures how much of the colour present in your product will be transferred when exposed to a certain amount of rubbing against a given material. The rubbing is tested dry, wet or we can find the pass/fail point for you. This is probably the most important "wear" test for upholstery leather and will give you a good idea of how much longevity you can expect from your leather choice. There are two different ways the test can be performed, the lower price is for a user specified number of rubs, with a simple report to tell you whether the sample has passed or failed. The investigative test is the more expensive test and we will determine the fail point of the sample and it comes with a more concise report.
